John A. Overpeck, 78, of Wolcottville, passed away at his home Thursday morning, September 3, 2015. He was born November 14, 1936 in Tuscola, Illinois to Clay and Floy (Rose) Overpeck. On November 23, 1955 he married Mary Jo Winger in Rochester. This year they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives along with two daughters, Rebecca (Kent) Bontreger of Middlebury and Elizabeth (James) Stump of Wolcottville; a son, Michael (Tara) Overpeck of Goshen; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Overpeck of Waveland; and a brother, David Overpeck of San Antonio, Texas. John and his siblings had the unique opportunity to celebrate their birthdays together. All three were born on the same month and day of separate years. Mr. Overpeck graduated in 1954 from Alamo High School and served with the U.S. Army as a radar operator in Chicago from 1956-58. He attended Maple Grove Church in Topeka. A private burial will take place in Eden Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial gifts may be directed to Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
