John S. Moyer

John Samuel Moyer, 52, of Goshen passed away, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at home, surrounded by family.

He was born July 11, 1970 in LaPorte to Samuel L. and Jean F. (Lehman) Moyer.

On April 16, 1993 he married Angela Knepp in Goshen.

She survives along with four children, Melissa (Collin) Affolder of Berne, Joel (Chelsea) Moyer of Mishawaka, Christina Moyer and Jacob Moyer, both of Goshen; his mother, Jean of Goshen; a sister, Janet (Bob) Waldusky and a brother, Mark (Rachael) Moyer both of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his father.

John graduated from Bethany Christian High School and went on to obtain both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education. John loved being part of the Parkside Elementary family, educating and serving fourth grade students and families for the past seventeen years. He coached Jr. High boys and girls golf teams at GMS for ten seasons.

John was a beloved elder, Sunday school teacher and VBS volunteer at Harvest Community Church.

John will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, thoughtful teacher, wise coach, encouraging friend and faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

John will be honored this weekend. Viewing will be held at Harvest Community Church on Friday, October 21st from 2-4pm and from 5:30-8:30pm .  Funeral services will be held at Harvest as well, on Saturday, October 22nd at 1pm . A graveside service will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen. Pastors Jeremy Gwaltney, Steve Chupp and James Dreier will officiate.

The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in John’s honor be made out to Parkside Elementary School to be invested in the students whom John taught and loved.
