John W. Metzger

New Paris — John W. Metzger, 65, died Monday, February 16, 2026, at Goshen Hospital.

He was born on July 17, 1960 in Goshen to Wayne and Carolyn (Ferguson) Metzger.

On August 20, 1982, he married Rose Mary Chupp in Nappanee.

She survives along with a daughter, Brittany (Eric Barnes) Metzger of New Paris; a granddaughter, Zaryah Barnes; and siblings Debra Bryant of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, James (Vicki) Metzger of Mishawaka and Jarrett Metzger of Elkhart.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachele Metzger; a sister, Barbra Metzger; three nieces; a brother-in-law, Troy Bryant; and an infant sister, Corrine Metzger.

John worked in the Recreational Vehicle industry and most recently was a driver for the Amish community. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John attended Grace Community Church where visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. An additional hour of visitation will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m., all at Grace Community Church.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to Grace Community Church, 20076 C.R. 36, Goshen, IN 46526.
