John H. Langenhop, 88, of Goshen, died Friday, March 16, 2018 at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born June 15, 1929 in Queens, New York to John and Marie (Gregory) Langenhop.
On August 18, 1950, he married Lorraine McGhee in Queens, New York. She died December 14, 2016.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Ronald) Hamme of Elizabethville, Pennsylvania and Joan (Don) Bixby pf Peru, Illinois; a son, Thomas (Kathy) Langenhop of Elkhart; seven grandchildren, Fritz, Joel, Jennie, Julia, Daniel, Ruthie, and Esther; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (Jean) Langenhop of York, Pennsylvania.
John was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and attended the Cooper Union School of Engineering for one year. After leaving school he had a successful career as a design engineer in manufacturing. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, woodcarving, and playing cards. He and his wife were longtime residents of Greencroft, Goshen, where they volunteered and participated in many activities.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service at The Meetinghouse in the health care building on the Goshen Greencroft campus.
A private burial at Violett Cemetery will take place.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Elkhart, Greencroft Foundation or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
