John and Judy served as house parents in the Mennonite Voluntary Service program in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1961-1964. He graduated from Goshen College in 1971 with a degree in Sociology.
John was the founder of Kolb and Associates, Ltd. He was a business and administrative consultant, a developer, and a designer of healthcare living communities throughout 11 states. Waterford Crossing in Goshen is an example of what John was passionate about creating. It was his desire for seniors to create their own environment and live comfortably in their own community. He made a lasting impact through his problem-solving and innovative solutions.
In addition to serving as a consultant, John was one of the founders of Friends of the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail in 1989. John was a member of the College Mennonite Church. He supported the development of Campus Center of Young Children on the Goshen College campus.
Most of all, John loved spending time with his family; attending their sporting events and school activities, traveling with Judy, and biking. His influence in our lives will be remembered and will continue to be a part of us. His enthusiastic smile, warm hugs, stories, guidance, wisdom, and helpful presence will be greatly missed.
Services will take place at College Mennonite Church, with visitation hours on Saturday, July 13th from 10-12 and 1-3. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 14th at 2:00.
