John A. Janisse

John A. Janisse, 86, Goshen, formerly of Mancelona, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Goshen Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born on February 28, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter and Elizabeth (Jones) Janisse.

On June 6, 1964, he married the love of his life, Muriel Prince.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Muriel Janisse; his children, David (Joely) Janisse, Goshen, and Marie (Michael) Rintelman, Florence, South Carolina; and grandchildren, Jennifer Rintelman and Gabriel Janisse.

Other survivors include a brother, William Janisse, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Rintelman and a sister-in-law, Peggy Janisse.

John was a hardworking man who spent his career as a truck driver. Following his retirement, he continued serving his community by working as a custodian in the local schools. He was known for his strong work ethic, humility, and willingness to help wherever he was needed.

An outdoorsman at heart, John enjoyed cutting firewood, spending time in nature, and tending to his yard. He especially loved feeding and watching birds and found great joy in the simple pleasures of nature. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

John was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Kalkaska, Michigan.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, Kalkaska, Michigan. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery
