John P. Haines

John P. “JP” Haines, 65, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Esther’s Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.

He was born August 29, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John W. and Evelyn Mae (Adams) Haines.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie New-Haines of Elkhart; children, Jamiebeth Haines of Elkhart, Sydney Haines of Edwardsburg, Michigan and John Daniel Haines of Elkhart; grandchildren, Kysen J. Gates and Brayden Sanders; siblings, Lynnette (Michael) Gran, Michelle (James) Collins, Jeffrey Haines and Laurie (Mark) Williams; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Haines and a niece.

Mr. Haines was a licensed union electrician. He enjoyed working with his father to fix old stereos and speakers.

JP had many interests; he loved animals, was an avid gun collector, and was very musically inclined. He had a passion for drums and enjoyed playing in a variety of bands. He enjoyed watching old television Westerns and listening to rock and classical music.

He was most importantly devoted to his grandchildren and family.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
