John “Ron” Grover, 73, of Elkhart, died Sunday evening, August 24, 2008, at Golden Living Center where he had been a patient the past four months. He was born in Goshen on January 8, 1935, to Loraine “Ted” and Georgia (Howard) Grover.  He married Loretta Weaver on February 4, 1966 at First Church of God, Goshen.  She survives. A lifelong resident of Goshen, Mr. Grover was a salesman.  He worked for Riverside Motor Olds Cadillac, Holiday Rambler, Coachman, and was owner/operator of Ron’s Camper Ranch in Elkhart.  Later in life he worked part time in landscaping and at Jenkins NAPA Auto Parts in Goshen. A 1953 graduate of Goshen High School, he grew up in the First Church of God, Goshen.  He was a veteran of the National Guard serving from 1954 to 1960.  He was a Grade Master Sergeant Light Weapons Infantryman.  He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and Toby, his beloved cat. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; a daughter, Tracy (Derek) Newby of Goshen; a son, Roderick Miller of Goshen; a step-daughter, Linda (David) Miller of Goshen; a step-son, Steve Collins of Arlington, Virginia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Rensberger of Goshen, and Merrie Jayne (Charles) Rhude of Elkhart; a brother, George “Sonny” Grover of Goshen and a brother-in-;aw, Joe Rhude of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gwen Rhude in 1992. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008, funeral service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Troy Scott of the First Church of God, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend.
