John Edward Gray, Sr.

John Edward Gray, Sr.,  69, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Friday evening, December 5, 2008, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. He was born in New Castle, Indiana on September 29, 1939, to Lewis and Gertrude (Davis) Gray. He married Anastasia Shepherd on October 18, 1958 in Savannah, Georgia.  She died in 1985. A long time resident of Goshen, Mr. Gray was a diesel mechanic for McCormick Motors in Nappanee, retiring in 2003. A US Air Force veteran, Mr. Gray enjoyed fishing and was a fan of basketball and NASCAR. He is survived by four daughters, Angela (Jeff) Yaddow and Tina (Darcy) Shurtz, both of Elkhart, and Cynthia Gray and Victoria Gray, both of Goshen; a son, John (Tammy) Gray, Jr.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lewis (Roseann) Gray of Summitville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anastasia; and three brothers, Ronald Gray and James and Jerry Davis. Friends will be received 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, at the funeral home. A 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2008, memorial service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
