John W. Gonser

John W. Gonser, 83, formerly of Goshen, died late Monday morning, May 5, 2006, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth where he had been since January.   He was born July 19, 1922, in South Bend, Indiana, to Harry W. and Mamie (Olinger) Gonser.  On November 1, 1969, in Elkhart, he married Alta Marie Yoder.  She died September 10, 2003.   Mr. Gonser worked in data processing at CTS Corp., Elkhart for 16 years.  He was a member of the Goshen City Church of the Brethren.   He is survived by a son, Steven W. (Sandra) Gonser of Elkhart; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Florence L. Rough and Erma F. Gonser; and a brother, Walter E. Gonser.   Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, and 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.   An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 19, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Rough, retired United Methodist Church minister and nephew, will officiate.   Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.   Memorials may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Hospice of Marshall County or to the donor’s choice.
