John Fidler, Goshen, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
John was born June 27, 1939, to Lewis and Elizabeth (Snobarger) Fidler.
He married Lois Irene Eddy on February 28, 1959, in Goshen. She died August 22, 2024.
Surviving John are children Kelley Fidler, Middlebury, Stephen (Shelly) Fidler, Goshen, and Karen (Shayne) LaCounte, Goshen; grandchildren Brad Webb, Carly Decker, Alli Batt, Joel Fidler, Sara Compton, Dylan Downing, and Shelby Crowley; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lois and his parents.
John worked alongside his dad to help build and grow Fidler Ready-Mix into the premier concrete provider in Northern Indiana. He later acquired Kuert Concrete, which he owned and operated into his retirement.
He was a member of Goshen High School’s class of 1957 and remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life.
A man of strong faith and service, John was a longtime member of Goshen First Church, where he faithfully served as an usher for 62 years. He was also very active in the Goshen Rotary Club. For 22 years, John helped provide a Christmas party for the Cadets at the Boys and Girls Club, serving more than 100 children each year with a meal and gifts.
John’s contributions to the concrete industry and his community were recognized throughout the years. He served as Parade Marshall for the Elkhart County Fair in 2003 and was honored with the E.B. Rayburn Award for the Indiana Ready-Mix Hall of Fame. He was also a long-term member of Maplecrest Country Club.
His dedication to young people and to the Goshen community left a lasting mark on the place he called home. Through his generosity, service, and willingness to give himself to others, John helped make Goshen a better place. His legacy will live on not only in the many lives he touched, but in the community he helped strengthen through a lifetime of caring and service.
Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on Monday, August 24, at 11 a.m. at Goshen First Church. Pastor Rich Hull will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Goshen First Church or to the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen.
