John R. Fehring, 84, of Goshen,passed away quietly in his sleep Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Courtyard Healthcare. He was born July 29, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Hans and Ethel (Campbell) Fehring. He moved to Goshen his sophomore year of high school and graduated in 1947. He then attended business school in Fort Wayne for accounting. John married Martha Musselman August 8, 1959 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. They were married for 54 years. She survives. Also surviving are two sons; John (Rhonda) Fehring, of Churubusco and Paul (Diane) Fehring, of Jupiter, Florida; five grandchildren, James, Joel, Rachel, André and Sara Mia and a niece, Micki Olson of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vera Sue Pennington. John served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56. He worked for Mogul Rubber Co., Independent Protection and a variety of boat and RV companies before retiring from Blue Fin, Nappanee. Following retirement, he worked in security at Hummer Corp., Mishawaka. John served as church secretary at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where he attended for 43 years before moving to West Goshen Church of the Brethren five years ago. Outside of work he enjoyed working with youth, serving as a Scout Master, and received the district Award of Merit in 1983. A private funeral service was held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Norm Replogle, West Goshen Church of the Brethren, officiating. Following the funeral, cremation took place.
