John R. Cripe, 90, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday evening, July 30, 2013. He was born June 28, 1923, in Middlebury, to Roy D. and Leota (Luke) Cripe. On December 13, 1969 in Goshen, he married Sharon Hoke. She survives along with two daughters; Christina Cripe and Michelle (Brandon) Hopkins, both of Goshen; a son, Donald D. (Sally) Cripe, of New Galilee, Pennsylvania; and two grandsons. Mr. Cripe served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from NIPSCO, in the communication department. He also worked as an electrician at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #985, Goshen, and the American Legion. He was also a Mason. No services are being planned. His body will be cremated at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Foundation.
