John Adam Alheim, 78, of Goshen, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1946 in Goshen to Max and Maxine (Cripe) Alheim.
On April 3, 1970 he married Kathy Firkins at First United Church of Christ, Goshen.
Surviving are wife, Kathy Alheim; three daughters, Kim (Dan) Berkey, Angie Alheim and Michelle (Ben) Eldridge all of Goshen; six grandchildren; Samantha (Mark) Jenney, Allyson (Caleb Denney) Sorg, Haleigh Cleveland, Cade Alheim, Zackary Eldridge, and Abbigail (Daniel) Morillo; and three great-grandchildren, Khalil, Sol and Molly.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannine Kennedy.
John served in the US Army from 1966 to 1969 spending one year in Vietnam.
He worked as a Firefighter for 38 years, he was Goshen Fire Chief from 2000 to 2006, and after that he became a Fire Inspector. He was a member of the VFW Post 985, Goshen, he was commander there for three years and a proud member of the Goshen Veteran’s Honor Guard.
He attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he served as an usher.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and Saturday, February 1 from 12 until the 1 p.m. funeral service also at the funeral home. Dr. Greggory E. Lanzen will be officiating.
Burial will follow in the West Goshen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or the Salvation Army, Goshen.
