Joseph W. Yoder, 76, of Goshen, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born July 9, 1942 in Reno County, Kansas to Joe W. and Lydia (Mullet) Yoder.
On November 26, 1966 he married Sharon K. Grise in Woodland at the United Church of Christ.
She survives along with three sons, Rodney (Kelly) Yoder of Bristol, Tony (Linny) Yoder of Goshen and Scott (Kelly) Yoder of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marti Ann (Hank) Bontrager of Zephyrhills, Florida; and five brothers, Bill (Pat) Yoder and David (Linda) Yoder, both of Goshen, Vernon (Ruth) Yoder of Bristol, Larry (Marcia) Yoder of Ligonier and Richard Yoder of White Pigeon, Michigan.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty O’Dell, a brother, Bob Yoder, and a sister-in-law, Becky Yoder.
A 1960 graduate of Middlebury High School, Joe was a member at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen. He retired from Prudential Financial in 1997 after 31 years of service, and from Norco Industries, Elkhart in 2008 after 10 years. He most recently was employed at John Hall’s Hardware, Goshen.
Joe enjoyed woodworking and making things for family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service Friday, September 7, 2018, all at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 S. R. 15, Goshen. Joe’s son, Rev. Scott Yoder, Crossroads Evangelical Free Church, Plymouth, will officiate.
Burial will take place at Bremen Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Crossroads Evangelical Free Church of Plymouth or Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
