Joe J. Hodge

February 22, 1938 — April 27, 2016

Joe J. Hodge, 78, of Goshen passed away Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016 at home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.


He was born February 22, 1938 in Notomine, West Virginia to Joe and Ada (Brown) Roberts.


On October 7, 1961 he married Carolyn Higginbotham in Decota, West Virginia.


He is survived by his wife of 54 years Carolyn of Goshen; a daughter, Tammy Johnson; two sons, Jeff (Judy) Hodge, and Tyler Hodge, all of Goshen; 10 grandchildren, Austin, Jennifer, MacKenzie, Whitney, Jamie, Tori, K.C., Katelynn, Chance and Autumn; five great-grandchildren, Patience, R.J., Arilye, Delaynie and Braxton; and a sister, Evelyn Truman of Charleston, West Virginia.


He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Jess Hodge; a sister, Mary Roberts; and a brother, Tony Roberts.


He worked part time as a painter at JRC Trailors and was a member of the Moose Lodge #836.


Joe was the best husband, dad, grandpa and great- grandpa.


Visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. funeral service will take place Saturday, April 30, 2016.  Pastor Lenny Krebs will officiate.


Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
