Joe Evans, 85, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, November 8, 2014 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born April 17, 1929 in Bristol to Bert and Katie (Sample) Evans. On July 3, 1976 he married Lou Ann Hutton in Constantine, Michigan. She survives along with three children, Sharon (Colin) Evans-Benard of Wallingford, Conn., Karen (Liam) Odonvan of Elkhart and Bert (JaiAnn) Evans of Goshen; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and four sisters. A lifelong area resident, Joe was a member of the Bristol American Legion Post #143. He enjoyed hunting and gardening and was an avid Dale Earnhart fan. He had a special love for his dog, Jake. Friends may call Wednesday, November 12, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 1 p.m., funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 13. Pastor Calvin Kolzow, Trinity Lutheran Church, Sturgis, will officiate. Burial, with a military graveside service, will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Humane Society.
