Dr. Joanna Abigail Reusser

Dr. Joanna A. Reusser, 29, of Cincinnati, Ohio, went home to Jesus surrounded by her family and friends Saturday, February 22, 2014, as a result of complications from treatment of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was born in Goshen to Thomas and Mayrea (Simpson) Reusser of Elkhart. Joanna graduated in 2002 from Elkhart Christian Academy. She received a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University, South Bend in 2007. In 2011, she earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Tulsa, Okla. She was in her third year of residency - specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Cincinnati, Ohio, when she left us for her biggest adventure of all. Joanna packed more into her 29 years than most people do in a lifetime. She touched each person she met with her contagious laugh, beautiful smile and passion for life. To know Joanna was to love Joanna. Everything she did was to better the lives of those around her. She never forgot a friend and never forgot that she served Jesus Christ. Joanna loved to travel, and saw every continent except Antarctica. While in Africa, her big heart led her to work with children orphaned by AIDS. So moved was she by the experience that she helped to start a sponsorship program for these children through Hope in View. She is survived by her parents; her sister, Rachel (Joshua) Thomas and niece, Eurydice Thomas, Portland, Ore.; sister Julie Reusser, Elkhart; two brothers Stephen (Holly Mueller) Reusser, Indianapolis and John Reusser, Elkhart; paternal grandmother, Lillian Hawley, Kimmell; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her energetic dog, Phineas. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at New Life Christian Center, 15685 S.R. 120, Bristol. Burial will follow at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
