Joann Saylor

Viola “JoAnn” Saylor, 93, of Columbia City previously of New Paris, passed away October 31, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where she had lived for five years.

She was born on July 4, 1929, in Elkhart County, to Joseph and Freda (Cart) Hower.

On October 21, 1948 she married Richard Saylor in Lakeville, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on August, 1 2007.

JoAnn is survived by her son, Kirby Saylor of Warsaw; two grandchildren, Jennifer Gerding of Columbia City, and Jeremiah Saylor of Warsaw; and two great grandchildren, Kierston Clark and Andrew Gerding.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Saylor; and a sister Louise Enyardt.

JoAnn took great pride in being a homemaker, she was also involved in her community by being a Cub Scout leader, and being on the PTO in LaPorte.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 4, at 2:30 p.m. at New Paris Cemetery.  Family friend Ron Chance will officiate.
