Joan "Jo" Lucille Wagner, 61, of Wakarusa, a caring person, loved by all, passed away early Monday morning, June 17, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was born September 9, 1951 in Niles, Michigan to Henry Max and Velma Irene (Artley) Sanford, Sr. She married William "Bill" Howard Wagner, July 1, 1972 in Elkhart. She is survived by three sisters, Nancy (Bill) Stevens of Mendon, Michigan, and Betty (Norm) Sprow and Irene (Joe) Mendez, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Henry Sanford, Jr. of Middlebury and Joe ((Catherine) Sanford of Louisville, Kentucky; 17 nieces and nephews; four great nephews and nieces and a great-great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a brother, Max William Sanford. A 1970 graduate of Northridge High School, she earned her LPN degree from Ivy Tech. She had the gift of hospitality and loved to travel and scrapbook. She also bowled in several leagues for many years. Joan worked as a critical care LPN at Elkhart General Hospital for almost 40 years. Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain David Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.
