Joan F. Mayberry

Joan F. Mayberry, 90, of North Richland Hills, Texas and formerly of Goshen and New Mexico, died Tuesday February 27, 2018.

She was born February 11, 1928 in Wakarusa to Ralph J. and Cora Mae (Null) Culp.

On July 2, 1954 she married David W. Mayberry.  He died November 15, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Rita (David) Menges of Goshen and Jean Hollowell of North Richland Hills, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Carol Mayberry, and a sister, Caroll Crowl.

A registered nurse, Joan began her career working with Dr. Fritz Bigler. She then worked at Goshen Hospital until 1969.  She continued her career in New Mexico, where she served on the New Mexico Board of Nursing and worked with Job Corp. She received many nursing honors, including the 50-year Excellence Award given by the Johnson & Johnson Company.  Joan retired in 1977 as an R.N. at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, Roswell, New Mexico.

While living in Goshen, Joan attended Goshen City Church of the Brethren and in Roswell, First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting and made many booties for new born babies, and knitted an untold number of mittens for children.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated.  Her remains will be interred privately at Violett Cemetery, Goshen, at a later date.
