Joan Albert, 82, of Goshen, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at Courtyard Healthcare after declining health for several years.
She was born May 19, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Earl and Ruth (Striethorst) Diekman.
On November 24, 1951 she married James E. Albert in Goshen. He died August 29, 2016.
Survivors include five daughters, Christine (Terry) Adam of Goshen, Teri (Jon) Stutzman of St. Joe, Ruth (Dave) Pletcher of Elkhart, Tracy (Dan) Weigel of Columbia City and Kelly (Dave) Mast of Butler; a son, Michael J. Albert of Rome City; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandy Albert; a grandson, KC Weigel and a sister, Jean Ruffner.
A longtime area resident, Joan, along with her husband, owned and operated Albert’s Place, a restaurant in Hicksville, Ohio.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the American Legion and the D.A.V. She enjoyed going to garage sales, antiquing and restoring furniture.
Friends may call Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1 until the 3 p.m., funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Terry Tyler will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be in Violett Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
