Jim Stack, 65, of Goshen, died Friday morning, May 31, 2013 at his home, after a two year battle with melanoma. He was born June 1, 1947 in Goshen, to J.P. and Barbara (Kendall) Stack. On April 13, 1991 in Goshen, he married Debbie Jo Miller. She survives along with two daughters, Elizabeth (Bill) Hall, of Bristol, and Jaime Rae Stack, of Goshen; a son, John James William Stack, Jr., of Goshen; and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Kendall Hall; as well as a sister, Jacquelyn Stack, of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Craig Stack. Jim was a graduate of the Goshen High School class of 1965, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1970 from Manchester College, where he was part of the hall of fame football "Honored Team" of 1968. After college, he taught school and coached at Goshen High School for a few years before moving to sales in the mobile home industry, largely at Redman Homes of Topeka. He later owned Hay Stacks Chow & Spirits, and Teasers Night Club. More recently he was self-employed in real estate management. He was a former Goshen Elks member, and current member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was also a member and volunteer for the Elkhart County Beef Cattle Assoc. He also enjoyed custom hay baling and raised steers for the 4-H program. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, Memorial Mass at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. His body will be cremated following the Monday evening visitation. Burial at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery will follow the Wednesday Memorial Mass.
