Jessie Spencer, 104, of Goshen, died Thursday evening, November 9, 2006, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. She was born June 29, 1902, in Kosciusko County, Indiana, to Levi and Clara (Catey) Miller. On March 9, 1925, she married Vivan Allen Spencer. He died July 17, 1980. Mrs. Spencer, a lifelong resident of the area, worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Kalb for 16 years. She had been a member of the First Church of God since 1928 where she participated in the Missionary Society and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Mrs. Spencer is survived by two daughters, Wanda Stults of Goshen and Jeanine (Douglas) Bucher of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vivan; a daughter, Edwina in April 1970; a brother and three sisters. Friends will be received 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 13, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, Goshen. Rev. Troy Scott and Rev. Craig Garber will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God.
