Jenny Kline

July 18, 1970 — March 17, 2024

Bristol

Jenny (Alwine) Kline, 53, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at her home in Bristol due to stage 4 cancer.

Jenny was born July 18, 1970, in Goshen. At the age of 14, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, fought cancer for the next several years, and survived it with a bone marrow transplant at the age of 17. She graduated from Elkhart Christian Academy (formerly Elkhart Baptist Christian School) in 1988 as valedictorian of her class and went on to Anderson University to study accounting and piano performance.

She worked for over 30 years as a CPA in the accounting field, specializing in non-profit accounting. Her skills benefited organizations such as Bethel University, Elkhart Christian Academy, Goshen College, and Starfish Project, to name a few. She was an accomplished pianist who played in multiple theater productions, as well as her church.

In 2011, she underwent a heart transplant due to long-term impacts from chemotherapy, after which she recovered and enjoyed a healthy life for more than 10 years. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, which she recovered from after surgery and radiation. Her last diagnosis came in September 2023 – untreatable lung cancer that took her to her heavenly home.

She was married to her husband, Jim Kline, for 30 years, and they have one daughter, Grace Kline. Jim and Grace survive along with Jenny’s dad and stepmom, Steve and Lisa (Gautier) Alwine, of Lake Worth, Florida; mom and stepdad, Barb (Shidler) and Bob Luchenbill, of Lake Wales, Florida; two siblings, Brian Alwine of South Bend and Sarah (Alwine) Forgrave of Indianapolis; and many extended family members and friends.

Jenny was a woman of deep faith who loved her church community, especially working with children in her church, and she also loved caring for others going through medical challenges. Her peace and strength in the midst of adversity have inspired many people throughout her life. She was a skilled cook, baker, musician, and puzzle solver who didn’t face a challenge she couldn’t tackle.

At the end of her life, her greatest desire was for it to be said of her: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (Holy Bible, 2 Timothy 4:7)

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 22 and from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, March 23 all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

Private burial will take place at West Goshen Cemetery.
