Jemima E. Yoder, 63, of Syracuse, died at her home on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2008. She was born in Nappanee on December 10, 1944, to Emmon and Saline (Hochstetler) Schmucker. She married Vernon Yoder on July 16, 1971, in Goshen. He survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Yoder also enjoyed working at The Spinning Wheel in Shipshewana. She is survived by her husband, Vernon; four sons, Robert (Helen) Yoder and Brent Yoder, both of Louisville, Kentucky, Jeffrey (Gina) Yoder of Syracuse, and Jason (Kristin) Yoder of South Bend; three grandchildren; sisters, Salina (John) Yoder of Shipshewana, Edna (Dan) Stoltzfus of Holtwood,Pennsylvania, Malinda (Leroy) Hochstetler of Bremen, and Mahala (John) Troyer of Nappanee; and three brothers, Freeman Schmucker of Syracuse, Levi (Millie) Schmucker of Goshen and Marvin (Mary Etta) Schmucker of Nappanee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harvey Yoder; an infant brother Monroe Yoder; and an infant sister, Mary. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, 120 North 23rd Street, Goshen. A 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008, funeral service will be held at Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, Goshen. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee. Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Care at Home Hospice or American Cancer Society.
