Jeffrey A. Vance, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

He was born a three-pound baby on May 20, 1941 in Goshen to Allen and Neva (Hoke) Vance.

Survivors include his wife, Gail (Brubaker) Vance of Elkhart; four children, Valerie (Rick) Rodgers of Elkhart, Jim (Kristen) Vance of Elkhart, Joe (Patti) Vance of Goshen and Bryan (Jill) Vance of Bedford; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four siblings, Cheryl Bowman of Boulder, Colorado, Debra (Paul) Jones of Goshen, Michael (Sandy) Vance of New Paris and Timothy (Trish) Vance of South Bend; sister-in-law, Susan Vance of North Manchester; former wife, Doris (Straw) McFarren of Elkhart and former exchange student, Austra Grivina of Latvia.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Jeffrey Jr.; two great-grandchildren and a brother, Pat Vance.

A 1959 graduate of Goshen High School, Jeff served with the Army at Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell and in Germany.  He was an active member of Creekside Church of the Brethren where he taught Sunday school; served on the church board, as a deacon and a Junior High advisor.  He was also instrumental in the Container Garden Ministry.

He worked as a respiratory therapist at Elkhart Hospital.

Drive by visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Creekside Church of the Brethren.  A memorial service will follow at 4:30. Pastor Rosanna McFadden will officiate.  The service will be live streamed with the link available on the church and the funeral home websites.

Memorial donations may be given to Creekside Church of the Brethren or Camp Mack for camper scholarships.
