Jason Isaac William South, 30, of Elkhart, died unexpectedly in his home on Monday, December 31, 2012. He was born May 5, 1982 in Goshen, to Marcus L. South and Grace (Fleenor) South. He married Angela Gingerich on October 13, 2012 in New Paris. She survives. Also surviving are three step-children, Monica Gingerich and Joseph McKeage, both at home and Matthew Helmuth of Goshen; his father, Marcus (Vicki) South of Goshen; his mother, Grace Boyd of Alabama; his grandmother, Dorothy Fleenor of Goshen, who along with this father and step-mother, helped raise Jason; grandparents, Melvin and Bessie Bledsoe of Goshen; and a brother, Robert J. "RJ" (Jenny) Fleenor of Millersburg. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Fleenor. A 2000 graduate of Goshen High School, Jason started his work life with the City of Elkhart. He then worked for many years for Niblock Excavation and Asphalt Construction Company. In March 2011 he started his dream job as a certified conductor with the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January, 4, 2013 and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, service, all at the Life Center, 1212 W. Plymouth Ave., Goshen. Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Riley Hospital for Children Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St. Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509.
