Jane A. Huser, 82, died Saturday evening, September 1, 2007, at Courtyard Healthcare Center where she had been a resident since May 2007. She was born in Goshen on August 4, 1925, to Clair and Louise (Schmitt) Bigler. She married John G. Huser of May 22, 1946, in Goshen. He preceded her on December 6, 2005. A 1943 graduate of Goshen High School and a lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Huser was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, American Legion Auxillary, and DAV Auxillary. Mrs. Huser was one of Goshen's first meter maids starting Janaury 7, 1969. She retired from the Elkhart County Building Department after 17 years. She is survived by three sons, David (Cindy) Huser, Bruce (Kim) Huser, and Mark (Marla) Huser, all of Goshen; two daughters, Kathleeen "Kathy" (Ponch) Holdeman of Goshen and Dianne (Mike) Barnes of Elkhart; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Carolyn (Robert) Lackner of Indianapolis; and a brother, Clair (Nancy) Bigler of West Bend, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Huser; an infant daughter, Martha; and three sisters, Shirley J. Prough, Maryann Stoner, and Kathleen Bigler. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, at the funeral home. A 4:00 p.m. vigil service will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
