Jan A. Noble, Sr., 79, of Bristol, passed away Friday morning, June 5, 2015, at the home of his son, Jan Noble, Jr. He was born April 10, 1936 in Pueblo, Colorado to Prentiss and Ellenor (Haynes) Noble. On January 25, 1962 he married Shirley J. Jelinek in Lakewood, Colorado. She died Feb. 21, 2009. Survivors include three daughters, Kryston (Rob) Hartzler of White Pigeon, Michigan, Brenda Noble of Denver, Colorado and Marcie Chambers of Evergreen, Colorado; two sons, Stanley Ryder of Elkhart and Jan Noble, Jr. of Bristol; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three daughters, Deborrah Ryder (Simon), LeAnn Zinman and Kim Johnson. A counselor, Mr. Noble founded Addictions Recovery Centers for 30 years. He was also a freelance writer. He was passionate about helping others in the addictions recovery field. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, ICAADA, Indiana Counselor's Association for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and the National Council on Addictions. He was an exercise enthusiast, enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading and spending time with his family. He was a diehard Chicago and Notre Dame sports fan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol. Friends and family will gather at Bristol United Methodist Church for a carry in meal in honor of Jan on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Harbor Lights Hospice.
