James R. Thatcher, 77, of Goshen, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his home following a month long illness.
He was born February 10, 1939 in Chicago to Paul and Evelyn (Williams) Thatcher.
On January 20, 1968 he married Patricia Robinson.
She survives along with three children, James R. Thatcher and Renee (James) Hansen, both of Middlebury, and Rebecca (Jochen) Springer of Berlin, Germany; 11 grandchildren, Jimmy (Kym), Justine, and Jourdan (Emily) Hansen, Vezzy, Joshua, Jonas, Hannah, Johannes, Marie, Nino and Seraphina Springer; a great-granddaughter, Addie Hansen; and a brother, Paul (Anne) Thatcher of Clarkston, Michigan.
James was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlebury.
He owned both Mandisco Inc. and Kordex, manufacturing and distributing companies before retiring in 2002.
Jim was an avid gardener known for his award winning garlic.
Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 18, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 708 Wayne St., Middlebury. Rev. Randy Schrader will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
