James “Jack” Stump, 89, of Goshen died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born September 10, 1928 in Goshen.
On October 7, 1950 he married Myrlene Pillow in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She died August 8, 1997.
Survivors include four sons, Michael (Gwen) Stump of Elkhart, James (Liz) Stump of Wolcottville, Dallas Stump of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Joseph (Dianna) Stump of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; three sisters, Linda Burkhead of Goshen, Laurelyn Parrish and Diana Kaylor, both of southern Indiana; and a brother, Michael Bowser of southern Indiana.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, James Stump; his mother, Alice (Bull) Bowser; a daughter, Margo Leatherman; a son, Douglas Stump; a sister, Patricia Minelli; two brothers, Dean Stump and Kent Stump; and a brother-in-law, Larry Burkhead.
A Goshen High School graduate, Jack served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Western Rubber Company as a supervisor after 39 years. He was a member of the American Legion.
For the past 53 years, Jack enjoyed spending time in the cabin he built in Canada.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 9, 2018. Rev. Mike Overpeck will officiate.
Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery, New Paris.
