James Kenneth Stewart

James Kenneth “Poppy” Stewart, 68, of Elkhart, entered into heaven, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Elkhart Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1953, in Mishawaka.

On September 8, 1973 he married Marcia “Kay” Welch.

She survives along with a daughter, Shawnna (Timothy G, Jr.) White of Elkhart; five grandchildren, Kaileigh (Ray) Lyvers, Timothy White III, Alexander (Aja) White, Janis White and Ethan White; great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Olivea, Braxton, Max, Amelia, Madden and Adora; and a brother, John Karl Stewart of Mishawaka.

He has joined his son, Michael J. Stewart in heaven; his parents, Kenneth Stewart, Evelyn (Rice) Stewart and Rachel Stewart; a sister, Sally Stewart and stepbrother, Jeff Young.

A very social and outgoing person, he was active in Boy Scouts and an active soldier at the Goshen Salvation Army. He enjoyed camping and outdoor cooking.

Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2022, from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Goshen Salvation Army.

Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army Senior Program.
