James E. Smith

James E. Smith, 75, of New Paris, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Kindred Hospital of Northern Indiana, Mishawaka where he had been the past two months. He was born September 20, 1938 in Goshen to Duane and Eloise (Elliott) Smith. On January 7, 1966 he married Marilyn Wert in Benton. She survives along with a son, Gordon Smith, South Bend; a sister-in-law, Mary Wert, LaPorte and a brother-in-law, Marty Rowe, South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carlton Smith and a sister, Shirley Rowe. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Smith worked at Anderson Boling for many years. Friends may call one hour prior to the 2 p.m., funeral service on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Godfrey, New Paris Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen, on Monday, January 13, 2014.
