James W. Sawyer, 75, of Goshen, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital from pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born February 8, 1943 in Elkhart to Keith and Glida (Giambi) Sawyer.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Wargon; sons, Scott (Angel) Sawyer of Edwardsburg, Michigan and Mark Sawyer of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Alicia, Kayla, Nicholas “Guido” and Autumn; sister, Lana (Ric) Alltizer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and favorite mother-in-law, Joyce Chapman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother from another mother, Henry Brubaker.
Jim graduated from Bellflower High School, Bellflower, California, in 1961. He retired from the Elkhart City Fire Department.
He was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a Shriner.
Jim served with the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger and served in the Vietnam War.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11:30 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Adam Speicher, Logansport, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners’ Hospital, Chicago.
