James D. Pierce, 79, of Goshen, passed away December 21, 2016, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born August 16, 1937 in Wendy, Kentucky to Edwin and Anna (Stevens) Pierce.
On May 13, 1962 he married Patricia E. Butler. She died September 26, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal (Bruce) Purvis of Goshen and Melony (Chris) Bennett of Union, Michigan; a son, Terry Maloyed of Goshen; six grandchildren, Jamie, Amanda, Angelica, Thomas, Ashley and Josh; two step-grandchildren, Brian and Ashley; eight great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, William Pierce of French Lick, Marvin “Kendall” Pierce of New Castle, Charley Pierce of Spiceland, Roy Pierce of New Castle, Hazel (Larry) Hoover of New Palestine, Paul (Carolyn) Pierce of Wilkinson, Mary Duncan of Spiceland and Dona Davis of Fortville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son, William “Fred” Pierce.
A Goshen resident since 1982, Mr. Pierce retired from Goshen Stamping. He enjoyed fishing and Blue Grass music. He was a member of a Blue Grass band “Northern Harmony Bluegrass”.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
There will be no additional services and burial will be at a later date in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Albany, Kentucky.
