James Wilson Payne, 61, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning, June 7, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He had been ill the last six weeks. He was born in Chelyan, West Virginia on September 19, 1949, to the late Kermit McClure and Lucille Mina (Bradshaw) Payne. He is survived by two sons, James (Peggy) Payne of Goshen and Daniel McClure Payne of Baytown, Texas; four granddaughters; a sister, Orvilla L. (Michael) Cardoza of Goshen; three brothers, Thomas (Margarita) Payne and William Ted West, both of Goshen and John (Pat) Payne of Bremen; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Franklin Payne. A 1967 Eastbank, West Virginia high school graduate, he served with the US Army Infantry from 1968 to 1970 in South Vietnam. Mr. Payne moved to Goshen five years ago and worked in construction. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Yoder-Culp Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
