James S. Miller, Ph.D., 58, of Goshen, died at his home early Sunday morning, October 9, 2011. He was born August 6, 1953, in Millersburg, Ohio, to Oscar Miller and Elizabeth (Bixel) Jeschke. He married Linda Suderman July 7, 1991 in Fresno, Calif. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Rose (Jeff) Martin, and Leanne Miller, both of Goshen; a son, Robert Miller, Goshen; a grandson, Jared Martin; his mother, Elizabeth (Marlin) Jeschke, Goshen; a sister, Kathy (Willard) Fenton-Miller, Marcelus, Mich.; and a brother, Tom (Crystal) Miller, Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Miller. A professor of biology at Goshen College the last 31 years, Dr. Miller earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Bluffton University and his doctorate in Medical Biochemistry from Ohio State University. He was an active participant at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church and an avid member of the Radio Control Airplane Club, Millersburg. Friends may call 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, October 16, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church where a 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2011, memorial service will be conducted. Pastor Terry Diener will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Frame Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to Benefit Memorial of James S. Miller, for Leanne and Robert. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
