James “Jim” Howard Boyer 79, of Nappanee, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the home of his granddaughter.
He was born January 2, 1938 in Goshen to Clifford Boyer and Edna (Kauffman) Boyer Lockwood.
On March 23, 1958 he married Janice Sechrist in Goshen.
She survives along with a daughter, Jackie (Michael L.) Culp of Goshen; a foster daughter, Arveta Gates of Nappanee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Rosemond Hartzler and Doris Yoder, both of Goshen and Peggy Willits of South Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jerilyn Tuck-Mobley.
Mr. Boyer was a gentle and loving man who loved to laugh. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of his life.
An aircraft mechanic and pilot for 60 years, he enjoyed flying.
Friends may call Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2017 funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Harold Mast of Kokomo and Pastor Mark Bendes of the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Cancer Center.
