James “Flip” Haroulakis, 86, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen.
The fifth of eight children, he was born August 18, 1932 in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to John and Sarah (Feeney) Haroulakis.
On November 20, 1953 he married Roxie Pearl Hathaway in Mountain Home, Idaho. She died January 1, 2014.
Survivors include children, Deane Ann (Lewis) Morse of Goshen and James J. Haroulakis of Elkhart; grandsons, Michael (Cindy) Morse, Dennis Morse, Andy (Monica) Morse and James Jay Haroulakis, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Marie Bumbas of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Emmanuel “Mike”, Nick, George, Andrew Haroulakis, and two sisters, Victoria Olson and Francis West.
Flip was a proud veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, serving over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid storyteller and lit up a room with his tales.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made a veterans’ organization of the donor’s choice.
Private burial will take place at Violett Cemetery. A graveside service with military honors will take place in the spring.
