James B. Drummond

James B. Drummond, 76, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, June 29, 2007, at his home.  He had been ill since December.   He was born on January 31, 1931, in Goshen, to James M.B. and Marjorie (Artley) Drummond.  He married Rhonda S. Penrose on October 8, 1994 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Goshen.  She survives.   A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Drummond served 20 years in the military with tours in Korea and Republic of South Vietnam.  He was a licensed professional civil engineer working with Brads-Ko Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in December 2006.   Mr. Drummond was a Past Resident of the Elcona Chapter of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers; Past Director of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers; a member Emeritus of the American Society of Naval Engineers; Past President of Indiana Council of Fraternal Veterans & Social Society; and a past member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He was a life member of the Reserve Officers Association; member of the Navy Memorial Association; member of the Goshen American Legion #30;; past Commander of the VFW #985, past Exalted Ruler of the Goshen Elks #798; Moose #836; the Masonic Temple, York Rite Bodies Scottish Rites of South Bend; the Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne; and the US Naval Institute.  He was also a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association, the Eastern Star,the Clan Drummond Society of America, Bashor Childrens’ Home Auxiliary; the US Navy Memorial Foundation and the retired reserve.   He is survived by his wife, Rhonda and a brother, William R. (Phyllis) Drummond of Elkhart.   Friends will be received 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 1, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2007, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Omer Nisley of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will officiate.   Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.     Memorial contributions may be given to Bashor Children’s Home or to VFW National Home for Children.
