James "Jim" Colin Bowser, 72, of Goshen, went home to his Lord early Monday morning, August 4, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born December 4, 1941 in Goshen to Colin and Virginia (MacLish) Bowser. On April 22, 1989 in Goshen he married Dorothy (Bostic) Oiler. She survives along with two step-children, Benita (Joel) Geyer of Syracuse and Jim (Le) Oiler of Marshall, Michigan; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son, Lyle Joseph Oiler and a sister, Lona Kennedy. Jim graduated from Goshen High School where he played football. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and he was a member of the Goshen VFW and DAV. He worked at Homecrest and was an avid fisherman. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a Friday, August 9, 2014, funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Pastor Pat Park, Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, will officiate. Burial will follow in Baintertown Cemetery, New Paris. Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
