James "Jim" Clark Freeman

James “Jim” Clark Freeman, 76, of Elkhart, died Saturday, November 30, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 19, 1948 in Monroe, Michigan to Donald Lawrence and Helen Elizabeth (Halasz) Freeman.

On April 18, 1992 he married Pamela Kay Hoover in Nashville, Tennessee.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Jessica Freeman, Elkhart and Helen (Michael) Edmonson, South Bend; six grandchildren, Tyler and Bryce Borders, Dylan Stiener, Zachary, Austin and Wyatt Edmonson; one step-grandson, Cody Edmonson and two step-great-grandchildren, Alexander and Atticus Edmonson.

Also surviving are special friends the Zendejas family, Felipe and Marie, and their children, Felipe Jr., Kevin and Keila.

A 1966 Bedford High School graduate, Jim was a 20 year paramedic. He had a 50 year career in Emergency Services. He started as a volunteer firefighter at various stations in Michigan and Indiana. While at Harris Township in Granger he decided to become an EMT. In 1984 he started Elkhart County Ambulance Service & Care Van in Elkhart, operating until 2004. He then began Ambulance Billing Services and operated it until his retirement in 2024. He was dedicated to the EMS community and served on the EMS Commission for eight years during the Evan Bayh administration.

He became a private pilot in 1991 and enjoyed flying his plane for breakfast & dinner in Ohio and Michigan. He flew over lake Michigan to Chicago which was always an exciting experience. He loved The Three Stooges and lived life with fun.

Visitation will be at West Goshen Church, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service.

Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
