James E. “Butch” Hodgson, Jr. 62, died Thursday evening, February 11, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital where he had been a patient following a February 2nd surgery. He was born on November 9, 1947, in Anderson to Stella Alberta (Duckworth) Carpenter, Goshen, and James E. Hodgson Sr., Brownsburg. They both survive. He married Gay Louise Craig on May 16, 1981, in Anderson, she survives. A machinist for 25 years at Atlas Die, Elkhart, Mr. Hodgson also served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He attended Ball State University for two years and he enjoyed hunting, freshwater fishing, and animals. He is survived by one daughter, Heather A. Hodgson; one son, Charles L. Craig, both of Goshen; one half-sister, Toni Compher, Brownsburg; and two grandchildren, Aleister and Sadie. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Calvin Carpenter. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, February 14, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Calling hours will also be held at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson, from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 15, and 10-12 noon, Tuesday, February 16, 2010. A 1 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home. Richard Wiseman will officiate. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park, Anderson. Memorials may be made out to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
