James Orville Bontrager, 74, of Goshen, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 13, 1950 in Goshen.
On June 26, 1982 he married Fern (Coons) Cameron in Goshen.
Survivors include his wife, Fern; a son, Jason Bontrager of Syracuse; three step-daughters, Jennifer (Stacey) Mikel of Goshen, Stephanie (Bart) Tylor of Milford, Renee Carter of Athens, Georgia and Michelle Oswald of Goshen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judy (Terry) Darr of Shipshewana, Dixie Butler, Helen Rugg, and Sally (Vernon) Moore all of Goshen; and two brothers, Dennis Rugg of Florida, and William Rugg of Goshen.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Anna (Bontrager) Rugg; and two sons, Steven and Shawn Bontrager.
James served in the US Army for 8 years, he was a member of the DAV and the NRA. He was a big jokester, even in hard times he would always bring laughter.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service with military honors at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain Greg Eads will officiate.
Burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date.
