James E. Albert

James “Jim” E. Albert, 84, of Goshen passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 at Courtyard Healthcare.  He had been battling cancer for a year.

He was born December 29, 1931 in Goshen to Earl and Genevieve (Trainer) Albert.

On November 24, 1951 he married Joan Diekman in Goshen.

She survives along with five daughters, Christine (Terry) Adam of Goshen, Teri (Jon) Stutzman of Spencerville, Ruth (Dave) Pletcher of Elkhart, Tracy (Dan) Weigel of Columbia City, and Kelly (David) Mast of Butler; a son, Michael Albert of Wawaka; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judy (Larry) Miller and Kelly Gay, both of Goshen, Janie (Larry) Neideffer of Westerville, Ohio and Genevieve (Dave) Bookman of Pensacola, Florida; and two brothers, Tim Albert and Chris (Rita) Albert, both of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandy Albert; an infant grandson K.C. Weigel and two brothers, Phil “Tink” and Don “Buck” Albert.

A lifelong Goshen resident, Jim worked at New Paris Creamery for 40 years, retiring in 2000 as a salesman.

A 1949 graduate of Goshen High School, Jim was a 3rd and 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of both the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans #15.

Jim served with the U.S. Army in the 42nd Engineers construction battalion in Alaska for four years.

Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 from 4 until the 7:30 rosary at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Rev. Father Tony Steinacker will officiate.

Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Violett Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the church.
