Jakob Svircovsky, 94, of Elkhart, died early Thursday morning, October 19, 2006, at Valley View Health Care Center. He was born in Poltava, Ukraine on July 28, 1912. He married Palaska Chemko in October 1935. She died April 26, 1995. Mr. Svircovsky retired from Kinder Manufacturing in Elkhart where he made furniture. He did bookkeeping for the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church and he enjoyed fishing and the out of doors. He is survived by a five granddaughters, Lida (David) Hire, Anna (Dale) Henderson, both of Elkhart, Vera (Brent) Shank of Union, Michigan, Valorie (Steve) Books of Dunlap and Tammy (Bryan) Shofner of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and a son-in-law, Nick Horban of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Palaska; a son,Valentine Svircovsky in December 1999; a daughter, Naida Horban in January 1995; a sister and five borthers. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Andrii Pokotylo of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
