Jake Hostetler, 91, of Goshen, died Monday morning, April 23, 2012, at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born in Exeland, Wisconsin in 1920 to Samuel G. and Mattie (Hershberger) Hostetler. He spent his entire adult life as a pastor and missionary. Even in his retirement he continued to preach, teach, counsel and pray for people. His passion for sharing his faith became obvious to everyone he met. He never grew tired of talking about the scriptures and his relationship with God. As a missionary he was not afraid to rough it, traveling by horseback to reach remote villages, in order to share the gospel. He was looking forward to heaven so he could be with Jesus, his wife Margaret and the many friends and family who had gone on before him. He is survived by a son Mark (Nancy) Hostetler; a daughter, Susan (Ted) Zwemer; two grandsons, Johnmark and Gabriel Hostetler; and a brother, Leroy (Carolyn) Hostetler. Jake was preceded in death by nine siblings, Katie Hostetler, Mary Leedy, Irene Culp, and John, Dan, Monroe, Bill, Harley and Samuel Hostetler. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m., service on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 S.R. 15, Goshen. Pastor Bill Richardson will officiate.
