Jacquelyn “Jackie” Berkey, 86, of Goshen died peacefully Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Greencroft Healthcare.
A Native American, Jackie was born July 19, 1935 on the Chippewa Reservation, White Earth, Minnesota to Walter and Gladys (Friedman) Gray.
On March 28, 1958 she married Weldon A. Berkey in Goshen. He died December 10, 2020.
Survivors include a son, Scott (Laura) Berkey of Goshen; a daughter, Sheila (John) Cuneo of Derry, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharron Andorfer of Springfield, Ohio.
Along with her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Stutzman, and a brother, Warren “Buck” Gray.
Mrs. Berkey worked as administrative assistant to the Elkhart County Soil and Water Department for many years. A member of East Goshen Mennonite Church, she served as church secretary, and volunteered at Switchboard Concern. Jackie was a faithful wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed bowling, being with people, and had an infectious laugh.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 1, 2022 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at East Goshen Mennonite Church, 2019 E. Lincoln Ave., where a 1:30 p.m. funeral service will be held. Pastors Naomi Yoder and Merle Hostetler will officiate.
Burial will follow at Hess Cemetery, Goshen.
