Jacqueline O. Cobbs, 84, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, August 2, 2011, at her home. She had been ill four months. She was born July 4, 1927 in Syracuse to the late Russell and Violet (Kettering) Cripe. On May 29, 1945 she married Cleo D. Cobbs at Fort Bragg, South Carolina. He died October 6, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Lynnette R. (Mel) Bontrager of Goshen; a son, Terry D. (Mary) Cobbs of Goshen; a granddaughter, Lisa (Sharath) Narayan of South Bend; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Paul) Pike of Middlebury; and a brother, Sherwood Cripe of Syracuse. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Kevin Cobbs and Michael R. Grove; and a sister, Gwendolyn Donat. A 1945 graduate of Walkerton High School, she attended Calvary Assembly of God, Elkhart. She was a member of the Women's American Bowling Association and enjoyed bowling in the Women's League at Maple City Bowl for many years. She was also a member of TOPS. She retired from Goshen Rubber on January 29, 1993 after 23 years of service. She had also worked at the Proof Company, Goshen, and Continental Can Company. Friends may call 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2011, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Mike Bundy officiating. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Assembly of God or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
